If you need to be able to watch your video live as it is happening, then a wireless WiFi Hidden Camera would be the more appropriate option. All-in-one/ Non-WiFi hidden cameras are easy to set up and use, but only allow you to see the video after it has been recorded. Which one you need really depends on your particular video surveillance needs. What's the difference between WiFi Nanny Cam and a Non-WiFi Nanny Camera? ![]() The advantage of PIR motion recording is that it consumes less battery life, and there are less false positives, so the camera’s battery life will last much longer than a camera that uses traditional motion detection. For cameras that offer this type of recording, it utilizes a PIR sensor which detects a change in temperature, such as body heat, rather than traditional motion, which uses the camera itself to look for visible changes. ![]() PIR “Body Heat” Motion Recording - A newer, more advanced type of motion detection is PIR/”Body Heat” motion detection. In continuous recording mode, the camera will record 24/7, regardless of whether or not there is motion or movement nearby. In motion detection recording, the camera will only record if it detects motion or movement nearby, such as a person walking by the camera. Motion Detection vs Continuous Recording - Two common video recording types are motion detection or motion activated recording, and continuous recording. ![]() Viewing angles can range from 65 degrees all the way up to 130 degrees, depending on the camera. The wider the viewing angle, the more the camera lens will be able to see. Viewing Angle - A nanny cam’s viewing angle is how wide the camera is. When night vision is enabled, the video switches from full color to black and white. These night vision sensors are invisible to the human eye, but are visible to the camera lens, so it can see even when the lights are low or completely out. Night Vision Nanny Cameras - Night vision hidden cameras and nanny cams feature a special IR (“infrared”) sensor that allows the camera to see in the dark. For WiFi streaming nanny cameras, frames per second can vary between 15 and 30, depending on the camera. For non-WiFi cameras, 30 frames per second is usually standard. For example, TV shows are generally in 30 frames per second. The more frames per second, the smoother the video. Most cameras now feature either 720P or 1080P high definition video.įrames Per Second (FPS) – Frames per second, or “FPS” for short, refers to the number of video frames per second. Over the years video quality for nanny cameras has improved significantly. Video Resolution – Video resolution refers to the quality of the camera. Some cameras only take up to a 32GB card, while some can take up to 128GB or 256GB memory card. Different camera models can have different size memory card specifications. Micro SD Memory Card – A micro SD card is a type of memory card used by many nanny cameras to store recorded videos.
![]() To make up the extra weight they used a 5.6 oz. ![]() They managed to make the bolt 15.9 oz., so they needed 5.6 oz. Greater bolt velocity would batter the system and accelerate wear and parts damage. I think it’s reasonable to assume that the engineers at Colt were trying to keep the rearward bolt velocity of the 9mm bolt about the same as the 5.56mm design. (source), almost exactly what we get for the calculated Colt 9mm SMG bolt velocity with 9mm NATO (see here) when using 21.5 oz. Using a standard buffer, the gas-operated 5.56mm bolt velocity is about 18 ft/sec. The Colt 9mm AR was developed from the 5.56mm AR, so the durability of the 5.56mm design is important to consider. There may have been several reasons, but one thing I noticed does stand out. Ruger PC9, closed bolt semi-auto, bolt = 23.7 oz. UZI 9×19, closed bolt semi-auto, bolt = 22.80 oz. I am not an expert on Colt history, but from what I have found in my research, the sequence of events seems to have generally gone as follows…Ĭolt “invented” the 9mm AR in the 1980’s by minimally adapting (ostensibly for cost savings) their 5.56mm AR carbine to fire 9mm pistol ammo using simple blowback operation.įor simple blowback to operate safely, they had to increase the weight of the bolt and buffer (a.k.a. The internal weights slam forward a fraction of a second later, helping to cancel out the bounce.īolt bounce affects practically all AR platform chamberings, gas operated and blowback. In a 9mm blowback, this may cause an out-of-battery (OOB) discharge of the cartridge (very bad!).Ī buffer with sliding weights inside acts like a deadblow hammer. If bolt bounce is combined with fully automatic fire, fast triggers, or simply a very quick trigger finger, the hammer may strike the firing pin just as the bolt bounces backwards. The bounce happens too fast for the naked eye to see. The bolt then slides forward again under recoil spring pressure. Why do they have sliding weights inside the buffer?īolt bounce happens when, after firing a round, the bolt returns to battery and literally “bounces” off of the chamber face, partially extracting the chambered cartridge in the process. ![]() The FM12 takes standard 40mm STANAG thread filters. This allowed for the use of dual loaded filters for heavily contaminated areas. However, the mask was also issued with a filter plug that can be easily removed and switched from side to side. The FM12 offers two different configurations of filter port, one being the classic 2-port with blanking plug mainly used by militaries, and the other being the slightly less expensive than the single port filter with clansman microphone port, which mainly sees use by police and other civilian agencies. A selection of different colours for the PSU cover are offered by Avon to be used for rank identification (mainly used by police), including but not limited to white, teal, dark blue, "old gold", yellow, red, magenta, green and grey. They also provide low breathing resistance and deflect the air as to not accidently give somebody a face full of moisture. Both of them operate in the same way with Avons patented "speech horn", cutting out the need for any type of speech diaphragm. The FM12's Primary Speech Module Cover is not to dissimilar to the S10's, but slightly reduced in size. The FM12 has also been sighted in use by private security companies and PMCs. It has similarly proved popular in America with many police departments adopting the mask. The FM12 also quickly saw adoption by police forces around America and Europe, with many British police forces adopting it sometime in the 2000s to replace both S10s and the few S6s still in use. The adoption date of the FM12 by the Norwegian military is currently unknown but assumed to be sometime in the 1990s. Belgium adopted the mask sometime in the late 1990s after the failure of the BEM-4GP and Engicom's subsequent contract termination. Trials to replace the FM12 in Dutch service are currently ongoing. It is assumed that the next nation to adopt the FM12 was the Netherlands to replace its aging C3 stocks, where the mask was issued with a Dutch DPM haversack. The first nation to adopt the FM12 was Denmark (designated ABC Beskyttelsesmaske, M/93) which issued the FM12 in a M/84 camouflage haversack and was used until 2020 where it was fully replaced by the M/18 (Scott GSR). ![]() The mask ended up being issued with a wide variety of haversacks and bags, some of which are listed in what nations adopted it, but everything from a dedicated Black PLCE haversack to surplus M40 bags were used with the FM12. ![]() The facepiece is made out of butyl rubber, meaning that the FM12 lacks the need for any type of face form and provides resistance to corrosive agents. When new, these have stickers on them both to protect the lenses from any undue wear and to signify that the lenses are new. These provide an ample field of view and are resistant to damage. The FM12 features low profile poly-carbonate eye pieces which sit close to the face. Interestingly, the British military issued size 3 for people with extremely small faces, while rarely. The FM12 came in 3 sizes 1 (large), 2 (medium) and 3 (small), advertised by Avon to fit 95% of every adult person, with the most popular size being 2. The FM12 harness was adopted by the Australian military for use on the ADF-10. The FM12 was one of the first harness systems to use the "skullcap" style, which has proven to be extremely popular in recent years. The FM12 strap system consists of a fabric-elastic harness secured in place by a 6 point harness system. The FM12 is more compact compared to the S10, trimming out most of the unneeded bulk and making it significantly lighter. It was initially planned to try and sell it to the British MoD as a replacement to the S10, however the MoD did not view it as a significant enough upgrade and thus Avon moved to have the mask trialed by other countries and subsequently turned it into Avon's first commercially available mask. Developed in the early 1990s by Avon Protection, the FM12 is a mid 4th gen respirator. ![]() His father, James Langford Stack, a wealthy advertising agency owner, later remarried his mother, but died when Stack was 10. Unfortunately, the existing licensing system is outdated and needs urgent reform. They have also played a key role in ensuring key workers can get to work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Taxis and PHVs have a particularly important role in the night-time economy, ensuring the public return home safely, and can be helpful in ensuring that people disperse quickly and peacefully after events. There are economic benefits too in enabling visitors to move quickly and safely through your area. It is essential that we take seriously our responsibility to determine whether someone is a ‘fit and proper’ person to hold a licence. Clearly, drivers must therefore command the highest level of confidence before they can be entrusted with this responsibility. The differences between the two types of spirals are crucial because they determine the direction in which chips are evacuated. Spiral flutes can be further divided into two categories: upcut and downcut. Chamfer bits are also called V-bits for their tips looking like the letter "V". A ball-nose tip has a sphere-shaped end, as its name suggests.A flat (or square) tip got a nearly 90-degree angle between its circumference and the end surface. Some of the most common types you will find are flat, ball-nose, and chamfer. Router bits come in a variety of tips, each creating different shapes of cuts as they engage with the material. However, spiral bits are weaker when held against straight ones and cannot cut too deep into the material or work at very high speeds. Such design allows less chatter and leaves the finished surface smoothe r, making these kinds of bits ideal for trimming surfaces. They are commonly used for slotting and cutting straight contours.Ī spiral flute goes along the shank of the bit spirally, staying in constant contact with the material surface. On the other hand, they produce less smooth surface finish on the workpiece since such design brings more chatter. Straight bits are stronger than spiral bits and can be used at higher speeds. A straight flute is parallel to the shank of the bit, striking the surface of the material perpendicular to the rotation direction. There are two common types of flutes: straight and spiral. That's why you should try to find the balance when deciding the number of flutes. This is especially the case for materials like aluminum which produces large and sticky chips. Yet, if you can't get the chips out in time, the heat produced during cutting will build up, eventually destroy the bit and even lead to burning. When the number of flutes increases, chip clearance (i.e., the passage) gets smaller, hence the more difficult for the chips to be evacuated. ![]() Flutes serve as the passage for chips to evacuate, and chip clearance is the amount of space that a single flute takes up. To explain this, we need to introduce a new concept: chip clearance. However, this doesn't mean you should try to go for as many teeth as you can. Secondly, bits with more flutes tend to give a better surface finish. First, it adds to the strength of the bit, which means the bit can be fed into the workpiece faster and work on harder material. Having more flutes offers two main advantages. The number of flutes on your router bit impacts the work speed and the surface finish of your product. Though not to be taken as the same thing, these two terms are usually interchangeable since they are always identical in number. As the bit rotates, teeth are responsible for cutting materials off, while flutes help evacuate the chips (namely removed materials) from the workpiece. Teeth refer to the cutting edges, and flutes are the grooves formed between teeth. Therefore, this article aims to introduce the basics of cuttings tools and walk you through some of the most commonly used router bits.įirst, let's get to know the major features used to categorize a cutting tool. Choosing the right cutting tool is critical to your project's efficiency and even success. Just like you wouldn't use a dagger to chop ribs, various cutting tools are designed to cut out different geometries. The toolpath (or G-code) instructs the cutting tool (aka bit) on how to move, while the cutting tool engages with the workpiece to produce the outcome. We already understood that CNC machining works by removing material from a solid workpiece to achieve the desired geometry. Now, it's time to dive into practical machining. The previous five episodes focus on the CAD and CAM processes. Welcome to the CNC series of Snapmaker Academy. |
